Amara Arancia Rossa di Sicilia Blood Orange Liqueur
Category | Liqueurs & Cordials |
Brand | Amara |
Origin | Italy, Sicily |
Amara is made from the local Sicilian variety of blood orange called Torocco that grows on the hillsides of Mount Etna. It's an artisanal specialty of Sicily that straddles the line between a full-blown citrus liqueur and an amaro. The fruit really takes center stage here while the bitter herbal flavors balance everything out nicely. The bouquet of Amara is reminiscent of the indigenous fruits and flora that feed off of the Mediterranean Sea’s nutrients--an intriguing and unique palate of candied oranges, licorice, and cloves that gives way to hints of elderflower and rhubarb. Try inserting it in to your next white Negroni or in an Italian "Margherita" riff, substituting Amara instead of triple sec.
Amara is truly a perfect after dinner drink. The production is limited to 20,000 bottles per year.
